Reviving Heritage. Inspiring Youth. Building Inclusive Communities.
I-PLAY is an Erasmus+ Sport project that uses traditional sports and games as a tool for social inclusion, gender equality, healthy lifestyles and intercultural dialogue. Across Spain, Türkiye and Poland, we engage young people, educators and communities in rediscovering the cultural sports of Europe — and reinventing them for today.

About the Project
What is I-PLAY?
Traditional sports are part of Europe’s living heritage — yet many are fading from schools, communities and public life. I-PLAY (Inclusive Heritage Games — Practice, Learn, Appreciate and Youth) brings them back, with a modern, inclusive and digital twist. Through training, community festivals, digital tools and policy advocacy, we make heritage sports accessible to all — including women, migrants and persons with disabilities.
🏃 Practice
Local traditional sports festivals in Spain, Türkiye and Poland, engaging 500+ participants in inclusive, community-driven activities.
📚 Learn
Train-the-Trainer programmes and an open-access digital toolkit for 100+ educators, youth workers and sports coaches.
🌍 Advocate
Policy roundtables and recommendations to embed traditional sports in national and EU-level education and inclusion strategies.
Our Pillars / Approach
A three-pillar approach for lasting impact.
I-PLAY combines hands-on community engagement, digital learning and policy advocacy to ensure traditional sports thrive far beyond the project’s lifetime.
Community-Based Learning (1)
- Heritage sports come alive in the field. We organise inclusive sports days, festivals and intergenerational events that strengthen community bonds and intercultural exchange.
- Three traditional sports festivals across partner countries
- At least 40% participation from underrepresented groups

Digital Toolkit (2) & Online Training (3)
- Our open-access training platform makes traditional sports knowledge available to everyone, anywhere.
- Multilingual e-learning modules
- Video tutorials and step-by-step guides
- Certification for educators and youth workers
«Traditional games are not just about play — they are living bridges between generations, cultures and communities. I-PLAY is bringing those bridges back.»
